Vicky Pasion ‘Been Like’ [Premiere]
“Been Like” is the third single from Vicky Pasion’s anticipated EP, set to launch at the O2 Academy2, Islington. The track was co-written with Owen Cutts (H.E.R, Stormzy, Green Tea Peng) just over two years ago. Since its original conception, “Been Like” has sonically grown from a haunting RnB vibe toward a more fierce, propulsive rhythm, to echo Vicky Pasion’s imperative sense of urgency: “‘Cos all I see is green lights and go/ No one else is in control.” With stacked vocal harmonies on top of interweaving layers of electric guitar, “Been Like” is relentless in attack and attitude.
‘“Been Like” is a song that unapologetically navigates a space of crippling anxiety and poor mental health,” Vicky Pasion shares. “I used to live life from a place of fear - neglecting my own needs and distracting myself from addressing traumas from my past. I felt trapped in my own thoughts, conflicted about what steps to take next, so I stayed in unhealthy relationships and held myself back from opportunities that scared me. Writing “Been Like” was the first step in moving forward from this heavy mindset. I directly address people in my past life who weren’t supportive of my growth - feeling deeply misunderstood yet determined to take control. It’s an act of burning down all ties in order to start again - to rise from the ashes.”
