Stop Asian Hate

The Asian diaspora is made up of 48 countries - several communities that deserve their own space to feel seen and heard.

In recent news, the racially motivated hate crimes in Atlanta, and the blatant blaming of the coronavirus on Asians in America, has sent more waves of heaviness, anger and fear across the world. We stand with the Asian communities #StopAsianHate

We believe that the Arts is a globalised space. As GIFTED, we foster diversity across the board - both internally and externally. For us, inclusivity is not a tick boxing exercise, it’s a part of our DNA.

We intentionally create safe spaces for people to share their own stories, and empower underrepresented voices to speak up and feel seen. We create spaces to actively listen. As GIFTED, we create with people of colour and encourage authorship and ownership over the stories of our own cultures - we understand that years of oppression and ‘Othering’ has encouraged people of colour to minimise their culture, in order to assimilate and fit into backgrounds of privilege - typically, for a Eurocentric, male gaze.

We acknowledge this. As a Black mixed African, and mixed Asian, female-led business, we continue to invest, amplify and support more of our stories to be told. We open up conversations to unlearn and strengthen allies.

It’s a new world, and it’s time to claim it with consciousness, creativity and compassion. Stay strong family.
