Born From Hope

To those who do not understand, I shall explain. And to those who do understand, I shall speak up.

It is quite simple, you must realise that, as a people, what we have been through and what we have observed, in truth, of what happens to us, our brothers, sisters, fathers and mothers, at the hands of all types of authority - white authority, law enforcement, industry authority - makes us both sad and angry, all at the same time.

In truth, some of your forefathers taught you to see us of colour as being less colourful than yourselves. Our dark skin tones are supposed to make us less human, less blessed by the creator, more dangerous, less mindful, weaker, less intelligent, less thoughtful, never wanting freedom, happiness and peace. And as such, generations of from your great-grandparents to your parents today, still do not understand what that has done to your absolute misunderstanding of us. No matter what you think you know of us, if you have not walked like us, then you understand nothing of what we experience simply being alive. You project onto us your fears, so you fear us.

Your misunderstanding of us is truly why these things happen. And although sometimes we might be scared of the authority, we are not afraid. If you corner a Lion it too might retreat until it can retreat no more - then it will eventually take a step forward.

Imagine experiencing the oppression of freedom, you can’t be free today, because another has said so. Imagine those same people praying for you to ones day exist one day; praying for a day when one of their descendants will be free. Here you exist, today, hundreds of years removed from the prayers of your ancestors, you are “free”. Free enough to still be killed in the streets, or in the privacy of your own home, for the colour of your skin. All over the world ancestors of the oppressed prayed for we to exist today, we are the prayers of our ancestors. We are literally born from hope.

So if for no reason alone, please understand that we have a greater purpose than to simply waking every morning and go to work, again, for your organisations and corporations. You see, we own our own corporations now, the dreams of our oppressed ancestors is what we build and live today. Our understanding of this is the wind that carry us on our journey. We were literally prayed to exist, and to succeed, in our quest for freedom.

Our young Kings and Queens realise that they are just that, that the good outnumbers. Today, and forever, we win simply because we are not afraid.
