As Women’s History Month draws to a close, the exciting work of up and coming artists keeps powering onwards!
Here are our top picks for women to keep on your radar this year:
1. HURU
From her roots in the eclectic Nairobi music scene aged just 15, HURU has since gained growing support from international audiences. Most recently, she supported GIRLI and July Jones on part of their ‘Damsel In Distress’ tour.
With her unique sound which she calls “Cosmic”, the alternative singer-songwriter HURU combines poetic lyricism with catchy melodies, inviting her listeners on an honest and reflective journey with every song.

2. MVM
The neo-soul and electronic singer-songwriter duo MVM is composed of Zimbabwean songstresses Mutsa Mupita and Ruvimbo Kuuzabuwe. The pair describe MVM as a sisterhood, which you can hear in their angelic vocals and seamless harmonies.
MVM recently made their musical debut with the single, ‘No Hesitation’. The music video is a celebration of Black womanhood, and explores the nuances of Black women’s sexuality. Watch it here!

3. Eleanor and the Dream
Eleanor and the Dream is a project by Blackpool-born, London-based singer/songwriter Eleanor Neish-Melling. As the melancholic sound of her music captures the hardest parts of life – heartbreak, loss and isolation – her soft, dreamlike vocals and shimmering guitar tones offer a glimmer of hope.

4. Likkle Jay
Likkle Jay is a music producer and engineer. With years of experience in production, engineering and session work, Likkle Jay began releasing her own music in 2020. Her debut single 'Diamonds' (feat. KdotMelody & Charlie Is Ready) was featured on MTV Base.

5. miss kiki foster
Hailing from Cambridge, miss kiki foster is an emerging young talent who is already making waves in the UK music scene. Born in Ecuador, her neo-soul sound has clear Latin influences, as well as a voice that has been compared to that of the greats, both old and new.
kiki’s debut single, ‘miss. kiki. foster.’ is a perfect introduction to her distinctive style and personality – raw, emotional, charming, and unashamedly kiki. Listen here.

6. Victoria Leanna
Victoria Leanna is an American singer and author. With a wide array of musical releases under her belt, she released her first major independent single, ‘Je Ne Sais Quoi’, in 2020. In 2021, Victoria released her first solo studio album, Goddess Time.
Her most recent project is the experimental music video for ‘Island’, released as an NFT on Sandmilk in February 2022. The song merges RnB with EDM in a meditation on multifaceted love within a surreal landscape. Watch the video here.
