On Thursday 9th September, POCC, a creative network driving cultural impact, and RCRDSHOP, a live music platform dedicated to promoting rising musicians and artists, took over the Serpentine Pavilion in Kensington Gardens to host ‘The Sauce’ - an evening of live music, creativity and connectivity.

The evening highlighted some of London’s rising artists, previewing their music to an engaged audience of R&B, Soul, Hip Hop and Rap lovers.

It starred a thriving line-up: Anjlo Disons, Sarah Ikumu, Mula, Kemi Ade, Isee, Javan and Morgan Munroe infused the space with love and good vibes only.

It was magical to experience a buzzing space filled with a summer evening aura of young Black, Brown and melanated cultures.

There was palpable excitement in the air - renewed conversations, connections, and community were sparked during a time when it’s felt needed most. Due to the global pandemic, safe spaces for live music and events have been unavailable for such a long time - yet, POCC and RCRDSHOP produced a beautiful event, ushering us all towards an inclusive energy we hope to continue to experience in this season.

RCRDSHOP, is a live music platform dedicated to promoting quality artists. Based in London, the brand began in 2017 by curating bespoke live music events, promoting talent within the UK underground music scene.

“POCC and RCRDSHOP are both sources of positive energy, progression and creativity... Our communities contribute ‘The Sauce’ to everything we touch. Joining forces with POCC to create something spectacular that is rooted in our core values and centred around our people is exciting. In taking up more space and opening up more opportunities through our first creative musical event, we’re proud to be presenting the artistry of some of the city’s most exciting up and coming talent at the iconic Serpentine Pavilion”.

Founded by Nana Bempah and Kevin Morosky, POCC exists to accelerate equality and equity, for culturally and ethnically diverse people in the creative industries and beyond through non-traditional ideas, creativity and activism.

“Before the pandemic, IRL events were a crucial way for our community to connect, support one another and celebrate each other’s creativity. We believe there’s nothing more powerful than getting together in real life to create magic and that’s why we’re excited to be collaborating with RCRDSHOP… and see out the summer with our people, amazing music and positive vibrations. It’s been a long time coming”.

With hopes of securing more sponsorship opportunities, we patiently await more iterations of ‘The Sauce’ for the community and beyond.
