Jess Gillam to Lead Earth Day Celebration at the Royal Albert Hall

Music has long found inspiration in the natural world, and next Earth Day saxophonist and broadcaster Jess Gillam will bring that relationship into focus with a special one-night performance at the Royal Albert Hall.
Presented with the BBC Concert Orchestra under the baton of Tom Richards, the evening will feature five world-premiere commissions from Jamie Cullum, Tan Dun, Rachel Portman, Anoushka Shankar and Eunike Tanzil, celebrating the beauty of Earth while reflecting on its fragility.
Rather than simply marking Earth Day, the performance promises to explore how music can deepen our connection with the landscapes, seasons and sounds that shape our lives. It's a reminder that art doesn't just entertain—it can also encourage us to observe more intentionally the world around us.
Set for 22 April 2027, the event brings together one of Britain's most distinctive musical voices with a programme that bridges classical tradition and contemporary creativity.
