Three words to describe how you’re feeling right now:
Living each day.
How are you being mindful of your health in this season?
I keep being honest with myself and questioning my emotions. How can I keep evolving when the world around me has stopped?
How have you and your circle been impacted by COVID-19?
As me and my boyfriend don’t live together, we’ve been meeting at my local park for a walk. It’s hard as we have to keep our distance and are not able to hug one another. But it almost feels like we are dating again, with regular FaceTimes and exchanging small gifts.
How has your work-education-life been affected so far?
As a freelancer, I have to plan my month ahead so I use my time efficiently. All shoots and meetings are now postponed, but with such an uncertainty of when this will be all over it’s hard to plan your future.
When you’ve been outside, what’s your experience been like?
As I live in the suburbs, I’m lucky enough to live near a couple of nice parks. Thankfully, they don’t get too busy, but I’m finding the whole 2 metre distance thing strange.
What’s keeping you in a positive state of mind in this uncertain time?
Knowing that we are all going through the same experience eases the pressure a little. It’s connected me with those I’ve been meaning to speak with, and forced me to think creatively which is a blessing in disguise. Knowing that (hopefully) in a couple months time, this way of life will be just a memory is keeping me sane.
How are you channelling your creativity in this season?
Seeing other people’s creativity has definitely inspired me. As a freelancer my work doesn’t stop, so finding ways to adapt has pushed me in a good way.
Over the past couple of weeks, it’s only natural that we’ve been reminiscing life before lockdown. Living a different rhythm to that of our usual, everyday lives, it’s easy to find ourselves feeling anxious, stressed out, overthinking, or feeling a little bit hopeless. Reminiscing has been said to help counteract loneliness; after all, recalling the past allows us to look forward to the future.
With so much time stuck at home, it’s hard to imagine being sat on a white beach somewhere, speckled with sand and soaking up – perhaps a little too much – sun. Why? Because it’s now just so far from our everyday reality.
With travel plans cancelled and future trips on hold, this limbo phase has also got me flicking through my own travel archive. From this I’ve created several phone wallpapers from my trips over the past few years, which I’ll be posting everyday for the next week on my Instagram Stories and Highlights. For you to view, save or escape to; either way I hope they each help you reminisce your own travel memories.
If you want to join in, post your favourite travel photo on your story or feed, along with a memory. Make sure to tag me @ealmo along with #aViewtoEscapeto. Looking forward to seeing and sharing everyone’s posts!
What are you grateful for in this season?
My health, family and friends.
What world are you moving towards in this season?
Online.
For people staying at home right now, any suggestions?
Do what you’ve been meaning to do for months. Nourish your mind and soul, take time for yourself and still maintain your goals.
