A Spectacular End-of-Year Lineup at The Royal Albert Hall

The Royal Albert Hall is set to close the year with a spectacular lineup of events featuring a diverse array of shows and performances. Some of the UK’s most beloved stars and musical talents, including Sandi Toksvig, Trevor Nelson, Jamie Cullum, Anna Lapwood and Paloma Faith, will take to the stage, offering something for everyone in the lead-up to the holiday season.

Kicking off the festive season on Friday, December 6, is jazz maestro Jamie Cullum, who will perform his show Pianoman alongside a big band. Fans of jazz will also enjoy Guy Barker’s Big Band Christmas on December 9, where the acclaimed trumpeter will be joined by a host of special guests. Among them are Paloma Faith, saxophonist Giacomo Smith, soul singer Vanessa Haynes and vocalists Tony Momrelle and Clare Teal, making it a star-studded night for jazz and soul enthusiasts.

Tony Momrelle will return to the stage alongside BBC Radio 2 DJ Trevor Nelson for Trevor Nelson’s Soul Christmas on December 16. This sell-out event, which has captivated audiences since 2019, will feature performances from stars like Kimberley Davis and Kenny Thomas, with accompaniment from the BBC Concert Orchestra and Kingdom Choir, conducted by Troy Miller. Nelson's carefully curated blend of soul classics and festive tunes promises another memorable evening for attendees.

In keeping with the Royal Albert Hall’s rich tradition of family-friendly events, Sandi Toksvig will host Sandi Claus Is Coming to Town on December 18. This event will be a joyous, queer celebration featuring the London Gay Men’s Chorus, organist Anna Lapwood, tap dancers from Laine Theatre Arts and the BBC Concert Orchestra, all under the baton of Karen Ní Bhroin. It's sure to be a night filled with laughter, fun and inclusivity for all ages.

For those seeking more traditional Christmas fare, The Royal Albert Hall’s renowned sing-along carol concerts begin on December 14, with 16 opportunities to join in the festivities until Christmas Eve. A highlight will be a special performance by the Royal Choral Society, continuing its 152-year tradition of performing at the Hall during the holidays. Additionally, the London Community Gospel Choir will deliver a powerful set of Christmas songs and gospel classics, ensuring that the festive spirit is in full swing.

Classical music lovers are in for a treat as Welsh mezzo-soprano Katherine Jenkins returns to the Hall for a special performance of seasonal favourites, while Letters Live, the ever-popular epistolary event, will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the RSPCA. This unique show features actors reading letters from history, with past participants including stars like Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Colman and Woody Harrelson. The event is renowned for its surprise lineups, making each performance an exciting and unpredictable occasion.

Finally, the end-of-year celebrations culminate with the Birmingham Royal Ballet’s breathtaking production of The Nutcracker. This sumptuous, specially adapted version of the beloved ballet will bring an enchanting close to the Hall’s holiday season.
